Hey road rage van driver, this is for you

How an angry delivery driver got me to write a Medium post. It’s not much, but it’s food for thought.

I was a victim of road rage by a delivery driver

Imagine the scene. It’s 8.01 am. Grey skies. Misty. I slowly pull out of my driveway on a single-lane country road on the edge of a small village in a very rural area of Suffolk. As often happens, as I pull out, I see headlights approaching, so the moment I see it, I begin reversing back into my driveway to let the oncoming vehicle pass.

But the oncoming vehicle doesn’t pass. No. It drives up as close as possible to the nose of my car, like it’s going to push me out of the way, and then crawls past my driveway while the driver calls me names and makes hand gestures that are somewhere between a v-sign, eyeballing sign, and threatening to punch me. Wow. Just wow. If only I got the number as he floored it off down the lane in temper. I didn’t. But wait a moment, the whole vehicle was covered in the name and details of the company.

Not exactly an untraceable rage and run, was it?

My Ring cam didn’t catch the incident but it did photograph the van

Rural areas can present challenges for drivers
